Anne Keothavong has got off to a winning start at the $600k red clay event in Warsaw, Poland.
In Monday’s opening round, Keothavong defeated the American No.6 seed, Bethanie Mattek-Sands, 6-2 7-6(4).
Keothavong, who attained a career high world ranking of No.48 in February, will face either Romania’s Edina Gallovits or America’s Jill Craybas in the second round.
Having already reached semi-finals in Sydney and Memphis, the 25 year-old Londoner will be playing in her third clay court second round of the year.
